Affected by the memory of the slain official's grandeur and eloquence, the boy grows up to be an arbiter of law, a Circuit Judge, hell-bent on justice. Jason Priestley is set to direct the film, based on material developed by Luke Perry.

John Goodnight (Perry) has a crystal clear memory of the day that his family was victimized by ruthless outlaws. He and the wife of Circuit Judge Aldous Shaw were the only survivors of the attack; she would become his foster mother. Goodnight cannot forget the corrupt man who destroyed his family - the man he also recalls walked with a limp - and he lives for a second chance encounter with the outlaw.

After a rocky start as a solicitor, the Governor swears John Goodnight in as the Western Territories next Circuit Judge. Goodnight travels the West seeking protection for the innocent, until one fateful day, when his journey takes him to a place that is all too familiar.

A Gunfighter's Pledge

MOVIE REVIEW

A Gunfighter's Pledge A.K.A. The Pledge:

Hallmark Channel cowboy style movie starring Luke Perry (Dillion from Beverly Hills 90210). This movie is NOT suitable for children or tweens due to extreme and vivid Western Style Gun Violence.

CAST:

Luke Perry ... Matt
Jaclyn DeSantis ... Amaya
Kim Coates ... Tate
C. Thomas Howell ... Horn
Francesco Quinn ... Sheriff Montero
Wyatt Smith ... Billy

PLOT:

A man gives a pledge to return money to a dying man’s widow and when he does, gets caught up in her fight to save her ranch from powerful men in the town who want the land for the water rights.

Movie Review:

I couldn't believe I was watching a made-for-TV Hallmark Movie. The Gunslinging violence was intense... and we are not just talking about a high noon - in the middle of town, show down. In the opening of the movie, Matt's (Luke Perry) wife and son are violently shot and killed. And the violence continues from there - throughout the film.

It's a true Western Style Movie... in the sprit of the movie, Open Range. There is finally at the end of the movie, a mix of redemption and justice for Luke Perry's character... though he never seems to be fully happy again, even after he has fought for and sought his revenge.

This Scripture may explain why:

Romans 12:19
"Beloved, never avenge yourselves, but leave it to the wrath of God, for it is written, "Vengeance is mine, I will repay, says the Lord."

See or Skip:

I do enjoy some westerns, when the good guys beat the bad guys... but I must suggest... Skipping this one, due to very intense violence.

The Gambler, The Girl, and The Gunslinger

The Gambler, The Girl, and The Gunslinger
A Hallmark Channel movie, starring Dean Cain ("Superman",“Final Approach”).

Dean Cain ... Shea McCall
James Tupper ... B.J. Stoker
Allison Hossack ... Liz Calhoun

from Hallmark Channel:

In the Old West town of Brazos, con man Shea McCall (Cain) wins half a parcel of land over a game of poker, which he now shares with B.J. Stoker (James Tupper, “Samantha Who?”) – known to everyone as a rough ‘n’ tough cowboy. The two begin a contentious relationship, one-upping the other over working the land, overseeing the workers, and winning the heart of B.J.’s current “lady friend,” Liz Calhoun (Allison Hossack, “Reaper”). When outlaws ride into Brazos with plans to run everyone off the land and take over the town, Shea and B.J must put aside their differences and work together or risk losing everything they have.

PLOT:

Movie Review:

This movie was interesting and witty for a Western-style Movie. I was intrigued throughout the movie to see who would "get the girl". If you love old Westerns, then you should enjoy this... because it is a good ole western style shoot-out movie.
