Please Note: the Hallmark Channel will no longer be airing their original movies on weeknights. I think this is disappointing news from a station that I used to truly enjoy... before they took away The Waltons and moved I Love Lucy airings to just 2:30 AM.

I so hope they will bring their Movies back at Christmastime... I so enjoy all of their Christmas Movies- such as, A Boyfriend for Christmas, Single Santa, Meet the Santas, The Note, etc....

I hope you all had a very nice 4th of July weekend. Isn't it wonderful to have this occasion to honor our country and all who have fought for our freedom.

I had such a nice time watching a Fireworks Display with my family... and listening to patriotic songs play along with the show.

Every year, like millions of Americans, I wear a flag tee or red, white, and blue something. This year I wore this great comfy tank top - that featured an America Flag and said God Bless America...

I thought it would be perfect for a hot Summer 4th of July day. Wouldn't you know it... our day was rainy, damp, and cool all day. It was so chilly, I had to wear a hoodie, too!

is a new Original Movie premiering tonight (June 26, 2009) at 8 PM on the DISNEY CHANNEL.

Update on Cast Member of The Waltons - Leslie Winston

As a fan of the television drama series, The Waltons, it's a joy to occasionally receive an update on how The Walton cast members are doing and what they've been up to - since the show ended.


I just discovered this very nice article written on June 1, 2009 about Leslie Winston, who portrayed Cindy Walton. She sounds like she is a very involved wife and mother, who still keeps in touch with her acting roots, but puts her family first.

Former 'Walton' now behind scenes in TV

Leslie Winston went from starring in summer theater productions and school plays while growing up in Mason City to being a cast member of “The Waltons.”


Today Winston still works in the TV industry but in a more behind-the-scenes capacity.
She primarily does “looping” — which consists mostly of voice-over work that “sweetens” the sound of a scene in post-production. This can include anything from singing to clapping.
She did looping for the TV shows “Ally McBeal” and “Boston Legal.”


Winston, the daughter of Mason City residents Hal and Carol Winston, got involved in a summer theater program when she was between fifth and sixth grades. She also was in plays in junior high and high school.


During a phone interview with the Globe Gazette, she said David Giese, the drama director at Mason City High School, was a great mentor to her.


“I can’t say enough good things about him,” Winston said.


After graduating from MCHS in 1974, Winston went to the University of Iowa and majored in drama. After two years she transferred to UCLA.


She left college with just one quarter to go because she landed a role in a movie.
After she finished filming the movie, she was on a short-lived, late-night TV series that was a remake of “Peyton Place.” She was still on that show when she was cast as Cindy, Ben’s wife, on “The Waltons.”


She first appeared on “The Waltons” in March 1979 and remained on the show until it ended in 1981.


Winston said being on “The Waltons” was “an absolutely sensational experience for me.”
Not only was it a hit TV show but she loved the producers and the rest of the cast.
Winston remembers she and the other young actors on the show would goof around a lot on the set.


She said the family dinner scenes “were nightmares for the directors” because they had to deal with 12 actors in a single scene.


Winston still remains close to the actors who played the Walton children. They attend each other’s weddings and children’s baptisms and Bar Mitvahs.


After “The Waltons” ended, Winston appeared in some movies and was a guest actor on several TV series.


Then she fell and shattered her elbow, which put her out of work for a year. She had trouble finding roles after being away from the business. Then, she and her husband, Bob Yannetti, an assistant director for various TV series, had their children. They have two daughters, Allie, 14, and Joey, 11.


Her daughters are one reason she got into looping work. Looping doesn’t involve auditions, which can take hours out of a day and more often than not don’t result in getting a role, she said.
It also allows her to be in the TV business and do things like being a leader for her daughters’ Brownie troop.


“I have been very, very fortunate,” Winston said.

I hope you enjoyed reading this update - as much as I did. I always thought Cindy (Leslie Winston) was such a lovely wife for Ben (Eric Scott). They made such a darling sweet couple. Sometimes when a new character is added into a long-running series - it's odd and un-natural, but not in this case... Cindy fit right in with the Walton family just beautifully. New Hallmark Movies - Safe Harbor & Come Dance at my Wedding

Oh, it's hard to believe it's already June. It's such a nice time of year... the sun shining bright and beautiful. Everyone is so busy with activity- mainly outdoors, but just in case you find yourself at night looking for something to watch on TV - I have a few suggestions for this weekend.

Hallmark re-airs Safe Harbor tonight - June 5th at 9 PM est. It just premiered last Saturday. I had planned to watch it and would give you my review, however, a terrible storm went through our area that evening and I was unable to watch it. Check the Family TV Schedule for more times.

“Safe Harbor” is based on a true story about a couple about to set sail around the world who agree to take a couple of juvenile delinquents under their wing and in the process learn about hope, second chances and living their dreams.

On Saturday (June 6th) and Sunday night (June 7th), Hallmark is premiering their newest original movie - Come Dance at my Wedding.

“Come Dance at my Wedding,” an original movie about a young bride-to-be who is shocked when the father she never knew shows up alive and holding the deed to her family’s dance studio. It is the first of many surprises for Cyd who will soon learn other surprises about her father, including their shared love of dancing.

In Reality TV results... I guess I was able to pick a few of my favorite winners. I was most excited that Kris Allen won American Idol. He had been my pick for a long time. Congrats to him!

Course, Joan Rivers won the Celebrity Apprentice - she, too, was my pick. However, on the Biggest Loser, I had chosen Tara or Mike - and Helen, who looked too thin, took the title. But, in my opinion, Tara and Mike looked more Healthy looking. That was quite disappointing - I think many Biggest Loser fans join me in my disappointment. The Amazing Race was lackluster, as well. The Brother and Sister team won. It was kind of expected- though Margie and Luke, my favorites, were so close.

I guess - you win some & lose some.

Reality TV

Lately, I've found myself - watching a lot more Reality TV. My favorites are the Amazing Race, the Apprentice, the Biggest Loser, American Idol, 18 Kids and Counting, Little People Big World, and Table for 12!

I know there are plenty more out there, but those are the ones I enjoy the most. Usually, I record them and fast-forward through commercials, or boring performances (American Idol)... so that helps to save on time.


The next question is, who do I hope wins?

Amazing Race (CBS)- Mother & Son Team - Margie & Luke

the Apprentice (NBC)- my pick is the Vivacious, Joan Rivers

the Biggest Loser (NBC)- Tara, she's Incredible! She never gives up - what a Great Competitor! I love how she doubts herself sometimes in the challenge, yet keeps going and going with determination, and in the end, she defeats those who were way in front of her. And if it can't be Tara, I'm pulling for Mike... he is so sweet - I just hope America votes him in for the Finale and he does well.

American Idol (FOX)- Kris Allen is my favorite of the Final 3 ! I just loved when he sang the country song in his own ballad tone - "To Make You Feel My Love" I have it downloaded from Itunes and it is just a beautiful version.


As far as my other favorite family reality shows on TLC - 18 Kids and Counting, Little People Big World, and Table for 12 ... I just love watching these precious families.

18 Kids is the Duggar family, who have 18 children. I am impressed with the love, respect, and moral discipline shown with such honor and grace in their home. I hope that it is inspirational to other families - we certainly need more like them today.

Little People Big World - Talking about Inspirational... nothing holds this family back - including their height. I so admire them for all they accomplish in life - and they have a very united precious family.

Table for 12 - another beautiful family with 10 children, this time. 2 sets of twins and one grouping of sextuplets. One of the little girls has cerebral palsy and it so precious to see how the other children and parents treat her so gently and kind. She's such a precious, beautiful little girl. I love how they, too, are such a close knit family.

Thank you, TLC, for giving us such great family programming. It seems to be lacking on TV sitcoms today.
