PLOT:
from Hallmark:
Faith Ford (“Murphy Brown”) stars as Amy Flowers, an expert matchmaker who has sent countless happy couples to the altar. After spending yet another New Year’s toasting her matches, she sets a goal for herself to find the man of her dreams by the following New Year’s Eve. Amy soon meets widower Josh Sherman (Cameron Daddo, “Drifter”), and the two seem to be a perfect pair. Only later does the pair realize how they came to meet, what each does for a living and are convinced they are each out to destroy their respective businesses.
Bradford May directs this romantic comedy about a
personal matchmaker who finds herself competing for business against a computer program, while she struggles with her own emotions.
Susan Flowers (Ford) runs her own business: Hearts and Flowers – Personalized Matchmaking Services. She has found successful mates for all of her clients, but has yet to find
one for herself. On New Year’s Eve, encouraged by her best friend Maureen (Rhodes), Susan makes the resolution to find herself a man, someone she can kiss at midnight of the next New Year. But when Romance.com, a new Internet dating site, comes onto the scene, Hearts and Flowers starts losing business. Susan is determined to prove her personalized service does a better job than a computer program ever could.
Her plan is to make a profile on Romance.com, allowing the website to set her up; afterwards, she’ll write a blog exposé of how phony the site’s “scientifically-based Compatibility
Formula” is, using her own experience as evidence. To Susan’s surprise, however, the site matches her with widower Josh Sherman (Daddo), and they’re a perfect pair. Little does Susan
know, Josh is the owner and CEO of Romance.com. But Josh doesn’t even know he has a profile on the site – only his daughters Cassie (Gould) and Jennifer (Mavity), the ones who
made his profile, do. The girls just want a mom and for their delightful dad to be happy. Only after they have fallen for each other do Susan and Josh find out what the other does for a
living, and they are both convinced the other is out to destroy their business. Ultimately, they must realize that finding the right person isn’t always a business affair; after all, love doesn’t
take vacations.
Movie Review:
The Hallmark Channel does it, again. A very sweet family movie that centers first around New Years Day and a Matchmaker who finally decides at the strike of midnight that she is determined to find her own Match by the time New Years Day comes around again... thus having her own love to "Kiss at Midnight!"
I thought it was a sweet... happy ending... movie! I definitely recommend it for any Romantics!
